USA (Next Media) - The 12-year-old brother of a California girl stabbed to death in her house last month was arrested on Saturday.
The killing in April of Leila Fowler, 8, in Calaveras County started a manhunt after her 12-year-old brother said an intruder had killed the girl. He will be charged with murder.
After a two-week investigation, Calaveras County sheriff’s detectives arrested the brother in connection with the death of his sister Leila Fowler. On the night of April 27, Leila Fowler’s parents left the house to attend a Little League game.
The brother said he discovered his sister badly injured and called his parents and 911.
The boy had told police he encountered an intruder in the home who was tall with long gray hair.
As a result of the brothers’s account, authorities did a door-to-door sweep of the entire area.
As part of the investigation, investigators seized several knives from the Fowler residence.
Police took Leila’s brother into custody at 5:10pm on Saturday.
