Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says greater experience will help his second reign be even more successful, says he has always admired Wayne Rooney
BANGKOK, THAILAND (JULY12, 2013) (REUTERS) - Returning Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes he has more to offer the club second time around - and would love to do so with Wayne Rooney in his line up.
Since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2007, Mourinho has spent time at both Inter Milan and Real Madrid, and believes he is now more rounded as he sets himself up for a second spell in the hotseat this season.During a news conference in Thailand on Friday (July 12) the 50-year-old also hinted that he would love to bring Rooney to west London.
"After my period with Chelsea, I went around Europe I have two years in Italy," said Mourinho. "Three years in Spain, so I have more football culture than before. I have more experience than before. I think I'm in better condition now."
Mourinho admitted to being a big fan of Rooney, but conceded he remained very much a Manchester United player.
"He's the player that I like very very much but I cannot say more than that. Being fast and direct, I like him very much but he's the Man United player," said Mourinho.
Since arriving at Chelsea earlier this summer, Mourinho has bought Dutch midfielder Marco Van Ginkel, German striker Andre Schurrle and Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
Schurrle admitted to feeling the weight of expectation after his transfer, but is determined to deliver.
"Pressure is always there," he said. "I'm Andre Schurrle and I want to improve myself. I want to work hard and I want to help the team. I have quality to be successful, so I'll try my best and give everything I have to the club."
The first game in charge for Mourinho will be held on July 17 when Chelsea play against the Thai All Stars team in Bangkok stadium.
After Thailand, the current Europa League champions will visit Malaysia andIndonesia.
