The coffins of 25 Egyptian policemen killed in Sinai are flown back to Cairo, a ceremony at the airport honours the dead.
CAIRO, EGYPT (AUGUST 19, 2013) (REUTERS) - The bodies of 25 Egyptian policemen killed by suspected Islamist militants in an attack in northern Sinai on Monday (August 19) were flown back to a Cairo airbase.
Their coffins, draped in Egyptian flags, were laid out at the airfield and a cleric led a ceremony for the dead.Attacks on Egyptian security forces in Sinai have multiplied since the removal of president Mohamed Mursi.
Three policemen were also wounded in the grenade and machinegun attack near the north Sinai town of Rafah on the border with Israel, medical and security sources said.
The attack underlined the challenges facing Egypt's new rulers, locked in a struggle with Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood in which at least 850 people have been killed since the security forces opened fire at pro-Mursi protest camps last week.
