The latest adventure of Britain's most famous super-spy, James Bond, is told by American best-selling thriller writer, Jeffery Deaver.
REUTERS - Nearly 6 decades and 100 million copies later, the world most famous spy is back.
"Carte Blanche" is the latest book installment in the series created by Ian Fleming, about the adventures of fictional British secret agent James Bond, operating under the code name "007."
Written by American crime writer Jeffery Deaver, the launch of "Carte Blanche" was complete with a Bond girl and military action.
And to write the book, Deaver did the necessary research.Jeffery Deaver, Author, saying
"I had the extra question, what do Ian Fleming fans want? So I went back and for six, seven months researched everything that Fleming had written. I of course re-read all the James Bond novels and I think I had a very good sense of how to bring his character into my story."
"Carte Blanche" is set in the present day, and takes place partly in Serbia and Dubai.
The book's publisher was keen to keep the story a secret until its launch day, but Deaver promises suspense with a modern day twist.
Jeffery Deaver, Author, saying
"By setting the book in the past you kind of distance yourself from that. If you go back to a period piece we don't really get the sweaty palms, we don't sit on the edge of our seats quite so much as if what Bond is solving today could be a problem, a terror, a threat that we all face every day."
And the privileged few who took a first peak said that they were impressed, such as Lucy Fleming, who is the niece of Bond-creator Ian Fleming.
Lucy Fleming, Niece of James Bond Creator, Ian Fleming, saying (English)
"It's a jolly good book, it's a very good read. The tension builds and builds and it has got the most horrible villain you've ever seen or heard. Really nasty man."
The latest escapades of 007 hits shelves on Thursday May 26th.
